Our Host - Jonny Shand

Calorie Comedy Club exists because I know how heavy this journey can feel, physically and emotionally.

Iโ€™ve gained weight. Iโ€™ve lost weight, for anyone that knows me, knows this is true. Iโ€™ve restarted more times than I can count. Iโ€™ve had good years, bad years, and years where just getting through the week felt like an achievement.

What Iโ€™ve learned is this: people donโ€™t need shouted at, lectured, or scared into changing. They need support, understanding, and a space where they can breathe.

Thatโ€™s why Calorie Comedy Club isnโ€™t built on pressure or perfection. Itโ€™s built on real life, the ups, the downs, the laughter, the awkward weeks, and the moments where things finally start to click.

My approach

I donโ€™t believe thereโ€™s one โ€œright wayโ€ to do this.

Some people calorie count.

Some people use weight-loss medication.

Some people focus on habits, mindset, or movement.

Most people use a mix and thatโ€™s okay.

My role isnโ€™t to dictate or judge. Itโ€™s to walk alongside you, help you make sense of whatโ€™s going on, and remind you that โ€˜bad weeksโ€™ donโ€™t cancel good ones

Why the comedy matters

The โ€œComedyโ€ in Calorie Comedy Club isnโ€™t about stand-up routines or forced fun. Itโ€™s about not making this harder than it already is

Laughter breaks tension.

It lowers pressure.

It reminds us weโ€™re human.

We take health seriously, just not ourselves.

Experience (without the waffle)

Iโ€™ve spent many years coaching and supporting people through change, including weight loss and wellbeing. I understand nutrition, mindset, and the importance of avoiding shame-based approaches or disordered eating patterns.

More importantly, I understand what itโ€™s like to be in it, not just talking about it from the sidelines.

Youโ€™re in safe hands here.

What matters most to me

The thing Iโ€™m proudest of isnโ€™t numbers on a scale.

Itโ€™s seeing people:

  • Feel less embarrassed

  • Show up even after a tough week

  • Laugh when they expected to feel judged

  • Start trusting themselves again

Thatโ€™s the real progress.

If youโ€™re wondering whether youโ€™ll fit in

You donโ€™t need to be confident.

You donโ€™t need to be motivated.

You donโ€™t need a plan or a backstory.

You just need to show up as you are.

Weโ€™ll figure the rest out together and probably have a laugh along the way.

PS Iโ€™ve lost 50lbs and counting of the weight Iโ€™ve regained, come join me!
